Dead engine heat blower motor - options?
My engine heat blower motor is dead (upper left of engine compartment) and to my shock its $459 from our host...are there cheaper options out there like an off the shelf US automotive blower that would work? Or VW?
Thanks!

I had mine rebuilt by a marine electric outfit in Tacoma. I think it was about $90. New bushings, brushes, turned and undercut commutator. Works great. Ready the next day.

Tonight I took the motor apart and to my surprise noticed the solder joint to one of the brushes had come undone. 5 minutes later the motor was fixed and running smooth. Got it back in the car now and all is good. woo hoo...just avoided cost (happy bride) and got my heat back because its still cold here!
