3.2 engine swap from 2.7
I'm getting ready to exchange my 2.7 [76] for a 3.2 "kit" I bought and have a few questions. I have a virtually brand new fuel pump on the car, will it work with the 3.2? I have a spare set oil tensioner update kit for my 2.7, does the 3.2 need this upgrade? and last I have headers and a sport exhaust on the 2.7, will it work with the 3.2???
Thanks.....jack |
Good move.
The fuel pump will work for the car although the pressure is higher than the motronic requires. The Carrera will have the updated tensioner already installed. The exhaust, the difference will be the 3.2 has thick flanges where the headers meet the heads so you ll have to shim bigtime to get it to seal. Bruce |
Thanks for the input! I'm assumeing I could regulate the fuel pressure in line. If the exhaust system will flow well enough for good performance, then I have a friend with a machine shop who will make whatever I need for spaceing.

The 3.2 EFI will regulate the pressure no need for additional regulation.
The exhaust studs are longer on the 3.2 heads. You can either swap the long studs for short studs or put a spacer between the nut and the header flange. |

I would replace the studs anyway ...so thats good info
thanks...jack |
The studs do not come out easily. Many snap off and have to be drilled. Quite a few posts on this. I made spacers for mine. Good luck with the swap.

I'll definately keep that in mind
thanks |
