				Tranny Inspection Plate - Sealant?

My 915 inspection plate has a tiny weep around the seal. Nothing major but I figured I'd change the gaskets since I need to refresh the tranny fluid. Do the gaskets require sealant? I have Curil-T and was considering using some.

I used a very light coat of locktite 574 on the paper gasket, as suggested by the local shop. It is nice and dry.

Are there two gaskets like the sump plate? Sorry, I haven't looked at the parts diagram yet.

Curil-T is a good option. Also while you're there make sure the shift fork is secure. This is how I found mine on the original 78 gearbox in my car. (Long story) It looked secure but on closer inspection it was loose and one of the studs had broken.

I decided it would have to wait until I move (6-9 months). Right now I am in an apartment - waiting for our house to be built. I keep the 911 in one of the apartment garages which is pretty nice but there is little room to work. Such a chap just trying to move the jack around. Incredibly frustrating. I managed to change the tranny fluid and replace a window switch. I spent 3 hours on a 1 hour job. Thanks for the help. I'll come back to this thread after the move. Getting a scissor lift - can't wait.
