g50 into a 76 pre brake booster
hi there
i own a 76 911 2.7L and just bought a 3.2L+g50 trans the project to converte the car sound very hard also because i live in ISRAEL and we dont have here mechanics nor body-shops that realy femiliar with old 911 and of course not with converting them with the g50 n 3.2 combo i am also planing to buy a full kit of callipers n brake booster of a newer 911 or 930 (used) i have read all the former post about g50+3.2L conversion and even prined them but because im located here in ISRAEL i cant "efford' to forget any part or piece of knowledge when the engine n trans arrive here. my goal - is to make the easier and most proffesional job considering we dont have experienced 911's machanics/ body work places here and if possible not to cause the frame of the body damege i canot fix later. coilovers in not an option nor sendint the car abroad here are my two questions before i start the project: 1. if someone can give me here the full part list i need from the donor car (its a 88 with g50 n 3.2l) + the extras i need to make the easiest project here in ISRAEL cause as i said it will be the first project "made in israel" and im affraid to get into trouble with the conversion and/or with extreemly expensive bill from the mechanic... 2. what about G50 Short Bell Housing kit from patrick motorsports? (look at the link please) http://www.patrickmotorsports.com/special/31/ will it solve my most of the problems with the body/frame/suspension work ? they offer full kit + adaptors for the g50 to 911 '69-'86 ? if ill go with this kit i wont have to change the torsion bars n torsion bar tubes etc.? do i need any special part to complete the kit? (KTL r u there? ![]() sorry for the long questions but the engine n trans r still in the US waiting for shippment and i need to get everything else ordered to be shipped together with them. until then im trying to get as much info as i can. thanks

Given your lack of local resources i fear that you may be getting in over your head.
Why do you insist on a g50? I(and lots of others) have used 915s w/o issue on 3.6 & 3.8 for the last 15 yrs. Yes, the g50 shifts a little better but a good 915 is still good in that department and can be reliable for what you are doing. Same question for the brakes, There is no need to get into boosted brakes on that car. I have had 964, 993 and 993RS brakes on my '76 and never felt the need to add a booster.

thanks bill
for the brakes - if ill go for the g50 i must change all the pedal cluster cause of the hydraulic clutch so i understood ill have to get booster too - please correct me if im wrong for the g50 - i allready bought it and when i shift from second to third on my 915 there is that sound that im affraid that its damaged + if im staying with the 915 i will have to change the gearing anyway right? please take a look at patrick motorspotrs link below and tell me if with that kit i wont get into too much trouble... http://www.patrickmotorsports.com/special/31/ i prefer to go the easy way but i realy want that g50 for the brakes - if i dont need booster i would go without it

If you do decide to go with the G-50 you will have to have Patrick Motorsports shorten your bell housing and mainshaft.
The only other way to put a G-50 in an early car is to change the torsion tube out to a G-50 torsion tube. Dave

Shalom Baruh, like Bill said 915 has been used with great success by many in both street and race applications. I ran 930 3.3 Turbo engine behind 915 for a while with no problems. Keep in mind that Carreras from 84 to 86 with 3.2 engine came from the factory with 915 transmission. Also keep in mind that currently G50 transmissions could be sold for good money, which you can use somewhere else. This is the site that might be helpful. Mazel Tov.
