Oil,transmission, new spark plus and air cleaner

I was wondering if anyone knows of a place in White Rock BC to have an Oil,transmission, spark plugs and air cleaner replaced.I'm of course looking for a place where their eyes don't light up when you mention Porsche.Someone honest and preferably an enthusiast.I'm on a budget and want this done professionally,Thanking you in advance..

Peter,

While you certainly can have someone do these things for you, they are fairly simple to perform on your own. If you can replace an alternator, you can do these jobs.

You only need basic hand tools (plus the spark plug wrench that came in the car's tool kit), a way to get the car safely off the ground and some time and patience.

Peter,

You can buy a service kit from our host and do it yourself. I use my mechanic if I want the service stamp for the records but keep all receipts for parts I have bought. You can save money and its fun to learn more about your baby

Yeah, the only thing slightly tricky is the spark plug replacement because the holes are very deep in the bowels of of the valve covers and cylinder heads. The others mentioned the spark plug tool in the tool kit because you have to "hold' the plug against gravity while you're placing it down the hole......otherwise you WILL have to "fish" the plug out when you inevitably drop it into the abyss. Don't know anyone in the White Rock area but the local PCA is a good source of info. The others have mentioned the kits from Pelican, they're good, complete with high quality components but what should also be added is the "101 Projects" book, great for simple overviews of many routine fixes. Cheers

BTW you should consider a fuel filter at the same time.

I suggest you ask this on the Canada Forum or the PCA-CWR site.
Something like: "White Rock, BC, service shop wanted".
As for service, I recommend adjusting the valves at the same time along with the oil change and ask that the torque on the head studs is checked. This will not take a lot of extra time while the valve covers are off.

Service:
Valve adjust,
Plugs,
Air filter,
Fuel Filter,
Oil Filter,
Engine oil: 15W40 or 20W50, your choice.
Transmission oil: 75W90 or 80W90 gear oil GL-5. (Swepco is an expensive over-kill, IMHO)

Keep a service log with dates and Mileage.
Once the above is done, you'll be good for a while.
