Soda-blasting engine case
I'm having my engine case halves soda blasted.
Any reasons why I should not have the insides of the case done as well? What about cylinders? I don't want to bead blast them because it is too abrasive and I am afraid to damage the inside (nickasil layer). Soda blasting these would be ok, no? Thanks for the insight guys!

Soda blasting the case is fine as long as you get it thoroughly washed afterwards, then follow-up with a final cleaning with clean evaporating solvent (methanol works well) and I prefer to use a gun cleaning kit with lots of patches for the oil passages, does a great job.
Cylinders, outside is ok, but leave the inside alone.

soda
Soda blasting is fine, the plating in the cyls. won't be an issue at all.

Thanks guys, that's all I needed to know.
The case halves will be rinsed thoroughly afterwards. I hear a mixture of water and vinagre will work fine. I'm not going to get the inside of the cylinders blasted, just the outside but it's good to know that the Nickasil layer is safe.
