i finally got the car back today. it has new front tyres (SO3's in 205/50/15's to match the rears). they corner balanced and aligned the car - i do not have my hands on the figures yet but will try to get them next week. i must say that the car now handles very well. a little stiff for the street but still good. elephant bushes in the front feel "plush", and not at all harsh. as far as i can tell (on the street) the front end "push" in right handers has been eliminated - it seems very neutral. a trip to the track shortly will confirm how well it handles now so fingers crossed - but the signs are positive. |
Surely this takes the record for the car problem that has taken the longest to solve. >3 years. Congratulations, I hope.

Looking good. We really should meet some time.
Here is my baby's new home. |
Hopefully with photo - if it will upload.
It won't! |
Let's see the numbers.....
sum-of-diagonals...if biased more on one side than another...will make the car steer nicely in one direction...but not the other. But..the basics have to be removed as sources of problems first.... Look at the recent thread posted originally by Craig O'Brien and "corner balance"....I got engaged in a very interesting discussion on the various ways we can view "proper" corner balancing vs. purposelful "weight jacking"...to get the results you want.
