A question about window trim

I'm just piecing my car back together and want to clean up the window trim. I'm wondering if it's chrome or polished aluminum. I have a feeling it's aluminum as it's gone a bit cloudy, which is what I want to remove. But it occurs to me that if it is aluminum, surely it would oxidise unless it's been clear coated. I tried using simichrome, but it appeared to scratch it.
Can anyone tell me what metal it is and whats the best way to restore it's shine?

Thanks

Adam

The window trim has always been anodized aluminum, though the door frames were chromed brass for one year ('68?) I believe.

The cloudiness may be oxidation due to someone polishing the trim in the past, which removes the protective anodizing. If this is the case then you should be able to polish it to brighten it up. But truly, the best way to restore it is to have it reanodized or it will turn cloudy again.
