71 911T Sporto Reassembly Project Intro....
After doing a bare metal respray 4 years ago on a mechanically sound '71 911T sunroof sporto and having it linger unloved in the garage, I have to get it out of the garage and enjoy it!
I have a ton of questions as I replace the gaskets and fit all the body components together. The little questions I'll ask on this thread but other more general, I'll post a separate thread. Thanks for your support and assistance! Basically it needed minor bodywork, paint!, and minor interior refresh. I intended to replace what was cosmetically appropriate and not to over-restore and keep as much of the factory materials in place. This was a one family owned vehicle and delivered to the SF Bay Area. On to the before pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

During Photos
Only three areas of rust: headlight buckets and passenger side upper bulkhead.
Besides a couple of parking lot ding repairs, the metal shows original factory metal coating under the primer. Disassembly/Paint Photos: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
