Where does this cable goes?

I was cleaning my carpets today and I found this disconnected cable and was wondering if anybody can tell me where does it go:

I'm thinking temp control module because it's the only thing not working on my car, I found out this winter. Last fall I was checking my shifter bushings and I might left it unhooked when I put it back together. Your thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have Auto Heat?

And a Bentley?

Yes, that's for your autoheat control unit, and the reason why yours doesn't work.

Thanks 86 911 Targa and porschenut.

The Bentley only shows two connectors coming out of the regulating control module, one for the Heat exchanger temp sensor and the other for the passenger compartment temp sensor.
If this connector is for the passenger compartment temp sensor then it's OK for it to not be connected, I don't have one. On the other hand it does not explain why my temp regulating control module is not working?

Here's a bit more info.

You may pm me.

Good luck,

My first search on Pelican was on AutoHeat, it didn't work (obviously). While I'm studying the wiring diagram, think this is going to suck to diagnose. I read a post that said there was a ball and cup mechanism inside the autoheat box between the seats that tends to pop off. I thought "no way", opened up and sure enough it had popped off. Put it back on, and the sucker worked. Right then, I knew Pelican was a good place.

86 911 Targa:

Thanks for those pics, the cables that you marked on the wiring diagram are correct, blue and blue/white. Unfortunately my car does not have the sensor between the steering wheel and the fresh air control levers, see pic.

So, is it OK for this cable to just be lying there disconnected?

And if so what would be the usual suspects for the temp control module not to work.

Hugh R:

Thanks for helping, I guess I'll give that a try, I'll post what I find.

Take care.

On a Targa the sensor is between the two sun visors and is an inch long black thing.
