SC Distribuitor Pot's advance / retard?

Can anyone tell me how the SC pot (pressure box) functions on an SC's distributor?

It looks like it has Vacuum Retard and Vacuum Advance.

If so how much vacuum-advance and how much vacuum-retard dose it have?

Is there a difference is how much retard or advance the early v late SC pots and or the euro pots?

Thanks in advance.

You have to be talking about the 80 to 83 with both. The retard pulls it back about 7 to 10 degrees, this is for emissions. The setting with neither hooked up is 5 degrees BTDC, the counter balance will give you advance to about 20 degrees and the vacuum will be in for about 5 to 8 degrees.
The most important is the lubrication of the distributor so that the inside section is free to swing in either direction. Many are frozen and need repair but especially lubricating.
There is a number stamped on the arm of the pod and it has a reference to a specific application.

Thank you much.

So to confirm (this is the important part to me) about 7 to 10 deg of Vacunm-Retard and about 5 to 8 deg Vacunm-Advance for the 80-83 pot?

I am looking at this to adapt for use on a 930.

Which direction dose the late SC dist rotate?

Is the 5 deg BTDC at idle with the pot hooked up or disconected?

930 and SC both use the same distributor cap so they are similar.

One more question, dose the early SC dist pot with just one hook up just retard? Or is it advance?

Jim,

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the SC and 3.3 distribuitors might rotate in different directions. I am guessing this from a picture of an early SC dist assunming it just has vac retard.

I don't know Keith.
Just know they use the same cap and rotor from buying them.

If the Distributor only has one pneumatic connection, then this would be for vacuum advance.
