how about drilling 3 holes in the ring and taping them for a set screw. you can drill small dimples in the wheel to further secure them. Might not totally keep them on if someone is prying on them but could deter a casual thief.

You can cut a disk, to the diameter of the underside lip of the cap, from thin plywood or some other thin, rigid material. Notch the disk for a snug fit against the three prong arms and insert it from the backside of the wheel, once the cap is installed. The disk will prevent the prongs from compressing. Loop a piece of soft wire around each prong to keep the disk in place. Now, the caps can only be removed once the wheel is off the car.
