1977 broken engine mount

Hi All,

I have a problem which is different to what i have searched, the engine mount in my car (triangular metal bit between the longitudinal rail and the rear crossmember has come unstuck on one side (along the sideways join across the car).

Most of what i have read refers to the engine bar breaking or the bolt breaking.

Obviously this will need to be rewelded, my questions are:

1) Is this common / is it a stop driving problem? - it is holding ok at the moment

2) Is this an engine out repair - or can it be done another way?

My feeling is the car has been repaired in that corner, it may be a part of that.

Chris

If the entire engine mount has broken off of the tub then yes that has to be fixed. looks like some welding is in order, and soon.

Hi James,

The triangular piece is fully attached at one side (side), and partially attached on the other side (back).

Definitely get it welded ASAP.

You mentioned possible crash damage. How does the engine lid fit the aperture in the body?
Are the gaps even all the way around? Can you get a good adjustment of the engine lid?
Are the tail lights straight in their mountings? How's the bumper?

Please post a pic of the broken mount.
