1979 SC exhaust questions

I am considering upgrading (backdating) to ssi heat exchangers. What all is involved in this conversion, Heat exchangers, muffler, bumper replacement/ modification? If you or someone you know has done this modification, what is your impression of it? Worth the $2000.00?
Another related question, there is a hard line from the exhaust where the two heat exchangers come together to what looks like an egr valve on the right side of the air box. EGR? I don't need to go through emissions so I have removed the smog pump and cat.
thanks!

It's fun and worth it as long as you realize you're spending about $150/hp. But your car WILL sound a little cooler and go very slightly faster.

I was quoting the original poster as you didn't bother reading his entire post before offering your "advice".

Oh...and because I only have 259 posts, I don't know what I'm talking about? I only started working on Porsche in March, 2010??? So, using that brilliant deduction, people here with 1 ~ 5 posts must be retards, huh?

Sheesh...you need to step away from the computer and get out more.

(And, as to inserting locations in our info: If I lived in Stockton CA (Redneck Riviera), I wouldn't admit to it.)

Not sure about the other things going on.

If you don't find what you need in the link I posted, do a search with the words "exhaust backdate backdating". It has been discussed many times.

I picked that one as it seemed the most comprehensive.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do. BTW-we like before and after video clips.

and pictures as well.

Also as to weather or not to do it. I persoanlly love the sound of the ssi setup over the stock HEat exchanger setup thought the price is steep it is worth it in my book thought the performance gain is not huge it transforms the car

I put a set of HE's off a 74 911 on my 78 SC and all I noticed was a bit more noise with no noticeable increase in performance. Eventually went back to the stock cat system and much prefer the muted growl of the big cat in back.

Cheers,

Joe
