Looking for wheel dollies/skates recommendations
I am looking to purchase some wheel dollies/skates to move cars/projects around the garage. I figured with all the mechanics on the board there must be some that have actual experience with the different brands/types of dollies/skates. Ideally I would love to purchase some GoJak dollies but the $800-$1000 for a set of 4 is too high for something that will have limited use. There are some knock-offs that someone is selling from Flordia on ebay that use a manual rachet system that I like but I have no idea if they roll and steer as easy as the GoJaks. Then there are the wheel/tire skates that are basically a steel platform with four casters that you must jack up the car and placed under each tire with a jack, these sell any where from $30 to $200. Other than the GoJaks, anyone have a product that they have used and can recommend?

I have accumulated four sets (of four) over the years.
Go with the Harbor Freight set. They work great and are priced right. Best, Grady

I've got a set of these from JC Whitney:
VEHICLE POSITIONING JACK (S) - JCWhitney They are great and really easy to use. Best thing - you don't need the floor jack to get the car into them.

I bought these
AutoSport Catalog - Hydraulic Positioning Jacks 800-953-0814 and they are great, seems to be a lower price than even JC whitney. I had a set of basic steel dollies from Harbor Freight, and these are just so much better. Lewis

I've been considering a set of these. I found them in a local speed shop...
These are about $600 a pair but I've also seen a cheaper pair for about $300. I guess it's like buying a jack. You get what you pay for. ![]() ![]()

If I had the money to spend, I would go for the GoJak's. They have a good reputation and I have seen them in use. The casters on them must be very good, as I saw one man moving a full sized car. I have read that the knock offs, both positioning jacks and dollies have non-ball bearing casters that require two men to roll and steer.
