Jesper, thanks for the invite! Was hoping to be over there for LeMans Classic, but now not so sure. Will have to get together one way or another.
Thanks for all of the kudos guys... Guess one of the reasons i love road trips so much is they allow you to truly leave all the namby-pamby BS of daily life behind and savor each day in a way not possible in the daily grind. Seeing new stuff (good to know there are still places in the US where u can enjoy a 911 as much as in Europe), the challenge of overcoming mechanical, weather and other issues and just encountering the unexpected in general is what is so much fun about these trips. To be able to do it all in a car as great as the 911 or bike like the Guzzi, with a significant other or a friend like Pete is icing on the cake. You guys along for the ride is cool too!:) Those of you who are Italian bike fans know where i am coming from when i say that nothing beats the open road and Guzzi (except maybe a Ducati:D) underneath. They truly capture the soul of long distance biking in a way that the 911 does motoring. The V11 did all we asked of it, and only decided to lose a starter relay at the end of the trip, as it was getting jealous of the Carrera getting the push starting every morning. As for the Carrera (aka 'The Limo') this was my first encouter with a luxurious (in my experience at least) and perfectly running Motronic car, and while i have not driven a 993, i have to say that i find it hard to believe anything could be any better on long road trips from an overall 911 experience. Whether running for an hour at 120plus, or attacking switchbacks, or spanking rednecks it kept delivering the mail. All with A/C, cruise and heat. This could spoil a guy. Anyway, glad u guys enjoyed the ride too. May you all enjoy your upcoming summer 911 road trips, big or small, as much as i did this one! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1274105241.jpg |

My project might not be coming at all... :( I am having some trouble obtaining import permission. I am in contact with the DK and US embassy, no clarification so far. I have been told that the US recently adopted very strict rules regarding vehicle import (though mine will not be a traditional import. I am just bringing my car, and taking it with me again in about 4 years). I don't know where this will end, but I am very busy getting ready to move, and with a third (and final :) ) offspring on the way scheduled just 4 days before reporting day (AUG 1st) time is somewhat limited. I have tried to have the car ready for paint. So I could bring a car ready for assembly. Right know I don's see that happening, then I'll just have more money to spend on the Turbo :) I know I am hijacking your thread, but I hope someone might chime in with some import advice -THX. See you. Jesper |
