Shorted something in left side of engine bay?
In the process of removing my braided plug wires, I think I may have shorted something out near the fuses on the left side of the engine bay. I had the plastic cover off of the electrical bits there, and happened to brush where the fuses are with the plug wires. I thought I heard a low "sizzle" sound followed by just a little bit of smoke. What's the worst damage this could have done? And being someone who is totally "in the dark" when it comes to electronics, how can I test the circuits?

The top fuse appears to be a spare. I suspect that the other two are for the rear window defogger, and the heater blower. The top fuse appears well worn as do the other two. Try cleaning the connections and replace the fuses. Then check if your assigned items are working. There should be voltage on BOTH sides of the fuses. It is very possible that you did not damage anything. Good luck, Gerry |
