Control arm adjustment fore / aft?
Looking at an old 911, that drives really nice, but noticed on the front that one wheel looks a little too forward. Measuring from front of door shows its almost 1/2" further forward than the one that looks correct. Is there any adjustment? Trunk compartment shows no signs of damage to the tank support area, wheel wells, shock towers, and everything else looks straight. Looks like front suspension pan was replaced, or was just super solid. Is there any adjust ability in the control arm? Strut position was slightly different from one side to the other, and car looks pretty flat. Any other adjustability? Thanks!

I would suspect fender misalignment before suspension problems. A chassis tweaked 1/2 inch would not drive straight. There is no real "adjustment" fore/aft for the A-arm. The strust can lean forward or back when caster is changed but if would take many degrees of difference side-to-side to make a 1/2 inch difference.

The car I bought last year was in what I think was a pretty minor accident. Had crappy body repair. In the course of my work on the front end this winter, I found that the right control arm was tweaked in the area of the ball joint. Something like this could be going on???
Mine wasn't apparent until I had both arms off, and laid side by side. Misalignment of ball joint wasn't 1/2", though. More like 1/4". |

I'm thinking it could be a tweaked control arm and / or old bushings, and possibly slight misalignment of bodywork..all of your comments! a little here, a little there... going to try to get to the car this weekend, but not sure if I'll be able to see it without a lift. thanks for the replies!
