Spring plate question?

Just having a debate with a friend. Neither one of us has had an adjustable spring plate apart. Just wondering if it is one tube that goes through the back plate or is the tube two pieces? One piece attached to each plate....outer and inner. Hope that makes sense. Thanks

No, it doesn't make sense. An adjustable plate has 2 flat pieces kind of sandwiched together that pivots on a eccentric. Does that make sense? I'll see if i can find a pic

1 tube with a short plate welded to it. The other plate is long and has a hole in it, which just fits over the tube. 2 bolts, one with eccentric, connect the long plate to the short plate. The other end of the long plate bolts to the banana arm.

The big nut on the rear is the adjustment nut. See how the two piece move to raise or lower?

In the picture, the eccentric sits at the lowest point meaning: the car can only be raised but not lowered further.

I suggest you get the Bentley Repair Manual which has good pictures and explanation how things work, especially the indexing of the T-bars.
It is more involved than you think.
