'77 911 radio antenna stuck

The original manual antenna on my '77 911 has 4 segments. The biggest (at the bottom) is extended about 2 inches but wont extend any more. The second segment wont extend at all (about 1/4 inch). The third segment is locked at an 8 inch extension, and the fourth segment moves up and down just fine. Id like to be able to fully insert the entire antenna back into the fender so I can get a car cover on properly, but can't. I bought the car new in late '76, and I remember something about having a tool that lets me lock the antenna down after I pushed it fully into the fender so the antenna couldn't be broken off by a vandal, but I dont have the tool anymore, and I dont remember if it would lock individual antenna segments at different extensions anyway. I've soaked the antenna in penetrating oil but no change! Any ideas out there?

You can just get a new one, there pretty cheap and they come with the locking key.

Assume from your description that it's on the left fender and is a manual antenna.

Get a large crescent wrench. Put 2 layers of cloth between the jaws. Turn it sideways and close them around the nub on the top end with the cloth between the jaws and antenna.

Pull/push up hard on the wrench. You can even tap up on the wrench with a hammer. You should be able to eventually get it all out. Clean it with a damp cloth, don't use oil or WD40 or any chemical. Penetrating oil is a not recommended. Might try rubbing alcohol to get rid of the penetrating oil that's on it.

Push it back down, tap down with a small hammer and cloth if you have to. Pull back up like above.

Do it a bunch of times until you can move it pretty easily. May take a dozen or so repetitions.

I just did this on a car I bought.

You can get a key on ebay for a couple bucks.
