the silver ones tend to be crap. i had a new die in 10 minutes. try to find an original black bosch coil with the warning lightning bolt on it.

Can you take him the old black one (even non-operating)?

I have had a Nology ProFire PFC-M75 coil [pn# 151 991 750] for CD Ignitions on my 73 2.7 with Bocsh CD. It has worked very well for 10 years and I really trust it. I am not sure if our hosts carry it, but you can buy from Nology or others on line. This model is designed specifically for CD. It is a transformer type with no oil and can design.

got the idea i think, i'll go and get a custom made 45.000volt transformer, with the same spec like the bosch black, with NO oil on it, and then i'll try what happens

How would ANYONE have the knowledge to custom make a CDI ignition coil/transformer...?
It's not a magnetic field "storage" device as in an ordinary, ancient, ignition coil but a reasonably low inductance high frequency coupling step up transformer with QUICK rising edge coupling capability. Good luck with that one. |
