Oil Leak from Head Gasket?

Is the above possible? I've been told by a mechanic that my oil drip is likely due to a head gasket leak. This doesn't make sense to me given that there are no oil galleys running through the head and cylinder as on a non-air cooled engine.

You could be leaking oil between the head and cylinder if you have a broken stud, but it would also be leaking down the side of you engine case.

So the motor is standard early 911. It's built on a '75 930 case, but is normally aspirated.

Head stud... yikes. The leak seems to be coming from the head area and not the case:cylinder interface. I'll keep my fingers crossed on the head stud. Would you expect compression or leak-down issues if the stud were the problem?

Yup, it would be head studs.

Is there anything else I can do short pulling the engine out that might indicate it's a head stud problem

You should be able to check the head studs by simply removing the valve covers. And then checking for broken ones.
