trannie question...

If a vehicle is parked in gear and is front-ended...how far downstream is the "punt" felt? Could the transmission feel the hit? What is the weak link in the system? Obviously we can jump start the cars by rolling them forward. Curious depending on the severity of the hit if damage could result, or would it be absorbed by the drivetrain?

Thanks

Speed

Bump for an interesting question.

My .02-I would think that anything under 20MPH would not do much damage to the drivetrain.

I'm not sure or probably even remotely qualified to try and answer for anything over that.

One would imagine that there is data somewhere to show the results.
