Just wanted to write a quick thank you to to everyone else on Pelican for your contributions over the years to helping make these forums a remarkable resource. I've been driving my new 997 most of the time lately, but I have wanted to replace my windshield for about forever on my '87 3.2. This week the glass finally arrived at the house. Massively overpacked which was nice, it looked like it could have fallen of the truck and survived the fall. In any case this was my second R&R of a 911 windshield, the first time I just replaced the gasket. However after 23 years and 170ish thousand lies of sandblasting and rocks, the glare in the rain or at night had gotten unbearable. The replacement windshield went in without a hitch and thanks to many extra tips from posts right here. Corners and trim both fit well. The wood block tip to knock the corner trim out a bit in order to stop the seals from falling in is spot on.
Second I tackled my sunroof headliner, which had sagged more with each year I've owned my car. It had gotten pretty bad but thanks to a post describing the same problem here, fixing it was really not very difficult. Some 3M 77 spray and some time, and I had it done. I'm really looking forward to a spin in the 3.2 now...just have to get it away from my wife! Thanks again to all who have helped me with my car, my motor rebuild, everything. What a great group of people.

Where did you get the glass?
Also, where was your headliner sagging? Mine looks perfect, but flutters a bit when driving with the windows down. Perhaps tha's normal? After all, the sunroof has to go somewhere...

Got the glass from here:
Auto Glass by Windshields To Go It is a Pinkerton windshield, made in the UK. It has blue tinting across the top and built-in radio antenna. Shipped, it was considerably cheaper than from other sources, but it was still quite expensive. I don't want to put prices as they can fluctuate so much. You can look up the current prices on the website. The portion of the headliner that covers the sunroof panel was sagging pretty badly as the material had started to pull away from the frame. I live in North Carolina and the glue softens up in the heat, I'm sure that over the years that had something to do with it. After tightening, I'm sure that fluttering as you describe will not be a problem....at least for awhile. So it seems you could tighten yours up at least a little bit if you desire. Not mandatory though of course.

I'll get some new pictures this evening.
WindshieldsToGo will do on-site installation for lots of glass, but I don't think for our old Porsches. They offered to ship (via freight/truck) to a commercial address for $100, or residential for $150. I took residential delivery. Took awhile to get here (several weeks), but like I said, it was packed like it could withstand a bomb blast. It was on a pallet, with THICK cardboard and lots of airspace all around. Wish I took a picture of that.

Picture of new windshield and sunroof headliner, now fixed. The flash made it appear shiny where there must be a bit of contact cement around the rim of the sunroof. That wasn't from me, and isn't noticeable in regular light.

I would love to see more pics of the interior on your car. Could you post some here or email them to me. Looking to change mine to more of a black and beige look. shane@scwdp.com

Thanks for the pics. Mine does not droop like that, so I guess it's normal.
