What motor did you put in? A 2.0-2.4 tach won't work with a later motor, some 2.7 tachs work with 3.0s and 3.2s and 3.6s have their own tachs.
If its the same motor find the black wire with purple stripes and check continuity on the wire through to the tach. There is also a ground on the tach. If its not the same motor get the right tach and then make sure the black and purple wire goes straight through |

Matt,
Clean the forward 14-pin connector from the relay/fusr/CDI panel to the body wiring harness. The pins are silver-plated, so use isopropyl alcohol and a bristle brush such as an old toothbrush. After testing, you may have to do repeated cleaning to get it working. Pipe cleaners and the alcohol work well on the receptacle (female connector) but it is very hard to see if there is a corrosion problem down in those sockets!
