I think I found my oil leak

Whadda think?

This thing is a pain to get to and replace. I have it off and the new one from Pelican in hand ready to go on.

I do have one question; do I need to replace the copper rings on the banjo bolt? I would have thought the new lines would come with the rings if they had to be replaced. The old line will rotate freely at the hose connections. The new hose is fixed in place at the rubber hose.

The other side is not leaking and I am debating if I want to fix it if it ain’t broke. I probably will replace both sides.

I would replace the sealing washers, I always do as habit, there have been times I have reused them (copper or aluminum). If it is a pain as you say to get to change them.
Since you have yours out, try a motorcycle shop (maybe not HD dont know what they use) but I have matched up sealing washers at a euro dealer, ducks & others, lots of banjos in brake systems and filler plugs.
May save you time in having something sent to you.

Regards

The sealing rings over on the cam tower end of the line? Yes, you should. If you don't you're likely to have a new leak in place of the one you're fixing!

Yea, that is pretty much what I was thinking. Hopefully I can find something local.

I am having problems finding the part on Pelican, and I can't find a part number.

Is this the P# 900-123-005-00-M131 you seek?
"Sealing Ring for Hollow Bolt for Cam Line, (2 Req Per Line) 911 (1984-89)"

I'm planning to do this same repair this weekend.
Once I remove a/c compressor, I didn't think it would be tough for a novice, am I wrong about that???

thanks.

Oh, yea. The A/C compressor is easy. Then there is an adjusting or sliding plate that comes off. Don’t mess with the adjusting bolt on the right side. Then the fun starts. To get the bottom bracket off you have to remove the muffler. That was not difficult, then you remove the muffler mounting bracket. Then you have access to the bolts that hold the bottom A/C bracket in place. The final pain is removing the sheet metal that runs along the back of the engine. Then you can finally get a wrench in there to hold the fitting in place to remove the banjo bolt. The other side requires you to remove the distributor. Just reverse that process to re-assemble.

GH85Carrera, sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I am replacing the same hose this weekend, I was wondering if you need to put any loctite or anything on the threads.

Once again sorry,

I would not use locktite or anything at all. Remember this is the OIL line that goes right to the tensioner. I plan to get everything as clean as possible and just tighten up with new copper gaskets. Any trace of locktite or sealant that got into the oil line might do bad things to the tensioner.
