Common Oil Leak Fix Question

Does the oil need to be drained when replacing the oil breather hose, oil pressure switch and oil cooler t-stat o-ring?

I have consulted Bentley, 101 Projects and searched many threads here, but could not find an answer.

Dumb question, I know, but don't want a BP/Gulf of Mexico situation...

Thanks!

No need to drain oil for those items...(hose, switch and T-Stat).

If you intend to replace all three seal, the complexity of the work will vary
with your model/year.

I did all three last year, along with a few "while you're in there" items.

Ours is a 3.2 which did not require an engine drop, but the removal of a few components.

You may pm me for details.

Good luck,

Gerry

Thanks for the replies

Will be changing these out tonight for some nice clean (oil leak free) memorial day weekend driving--spirited of course!

dshepp806 -- I have an '88 Carrera 3.2 coupe with M&K 1in1out, Steve Wong chip and other recommended upgrades (e.g., turbo tie rods, turbo valve covers).

As you (now) know, you can get to these repair points. Just be sure to clean that area really well BEFORE touching any of the said items. Be extra careful to not drop anything in orifices where they don't belong. Don't overtorque the nuts on the t-stat and intake. Nice Bosch dielectric grease on the connection at the switch.

Cleanliness is key.

Have fun...

Best,

Doyle
