I want to build a Porsche 911 S/T
Last year I went to the Nordschleife/Nürburgring with some friends to make a DVD on the car legends the Porsche 911 S/T and the Alfa GTAm. We had the original Toad Hall S/T for two days on the Ring. Now I dream about making my own 911 S/T replica. Would a 911 T do as base for the rebuild. Does anyone know were I should look for parts? If anyone has links to websites, pictures, movies of the S/T please post it here.
Here is the car (The car Michael Keyser used filming The speed Merchants) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtJx1BrZiOI ![]() |

Great DVD. I got mine about a week ago. That Gabriela can really work that car on those mountain roads.
![]() Most any 911 will do as a base. T/E/S doesm't matter for a replica. Buy a good solid chassis and get a non-matching engine. MFI pumps can be tuned to work for any application. I like the throttle response of it better than carbs, gets better economy, and sounds great with watershields. You could be authentic and start with a '72 and the oil tank in the forward position but '71 would still have the pull clutch and 911/01 gearbox but would allow more cars to choose from. For parts, I would look here, and on early911Sregistry.org S/T flares are unique. I am not sure where to get them. I would try Getty Design or GT racing. There was a thread about builing a 911S/T replica on Pelican a while ago. Search and ye shall find. I can't wait for a follow-up Nuerburgring DVD, maybe an RSR this time?

911st 911ST flares http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17679&highlight=Kremer+restoration http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18073&highlight=Kremer+restoration http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11042&highlight=Kremer+restoration I hope these links work. Good luck with the project. I don't know how many parts are available in Norway. These cars are so fun to drive, I am sure you will love the car, however close it comes to a real ST look. Keep your progress posted. ![]()

I cannot find the thread about building a 911ST replica which was on this site. It was a gray/blue color and the car was featured in the magazine Excellence. Maybe someone else has some info? I believe that car had the ST flares when he bought it- a rare oddity that he didn't understand at first.

The blue/gray car belongs to the dentist out west; cnielsen. I don't think he ever did reveal the color code. Stunning damn car made all the more hot by pics of it in snow, gravel, dirt, etc.
I recall reading that there is not necessarily one correct 'S/T' flare. Rather several types were used. Building an S/T (and driving it appropriately) is the Lord's work and you will be blessed many times over for your efforts.

I recommend Dave but I think Fredrik911 is out of the Van Nuys area, if I read his other posts correctly.

Here are a few threads on my ST interpretation. The car is so much fun to drive...
Corner balanced at 2010# wet with 3/4 tank of gas. Powered by a internally stock 3.0 with ITB EFI setup. It goes around a track pretty well. Probably no comparison to the real thing but I am always learning ways to make it go faster. Its slightly different 3 years later but overall structure is the same. There are a few links to the build in some of the threads. ![]() Gratuitous Photos of my ST Replica ST Project update: It's Legal: first drives from the neighborhood

Thanks a lot for useful information and links. The fuel cell and the filler-cap(were did you get it) will be a must-have, nice work Jamie!
The original is very powerful and he later RS-duck tail really has it function. The sound is also so nice and brutal ![]() Gaby(the owner of the real deal S/T) is a great driver. She practice a lot on Nurburgring and other tracks in Europe. Ron Simons that do the most of the driving in the Nurburgring LEGEND DVD has approx 2000 laps on the Ring each year!!! I have a very nice matching number Porsche 911 1969 so it will stay original. I have bought a 1971 T( Waiting for some details from the seller and the shipping company), a 1972 would be nice but I don't see them very often. Hope to have the base for my S/T before the summer. I have found some parts on: http://www.rsl-classic.de/pages_en/classic/produkte/rs_m471.html I bought the RS sports exhaust system, since I did my neighbor's don't talk to me anymore, but the car sounds better though! ![]() |

There is a thread that you should check out. Speedo is building a 911R replica. He has a detailed section in there about how he made a center fill tank. All I know is that it involves a dog bowl
![]() Here is the link to speedo's thread: SWB 911R...the beginning

I think there was some refrence to a steel blue with s-t rear flares. you can find it in September 07 Excellence pgs 80-88. Wow eight whole pages worth! This was the one built by Chris Nielsen.

this is chris' ST flared car. He had found a car with these flares on it, cut them off and welded them to this one. Beautiful work! He did the gas tank himself as well.
We offer a center fill tank with bladed cap, based on a new replica 21 gallon CIS tank. This way a space saver spare can be used and it does not cost a fortune to purchase. We can sell you the flares, bumpers, lids, roll bar, seats, etc etc. Contact me at tremotorsports@gmail.com for details and pricing ![]() ![]() ![]()

A 911T 1971 model is on its way!!
I have bought a 911 T 1971. It is in original red and in a nice shape, and it will be shipped to Norway in a month or so. Tremotorsports seems to have a lot of what I need. I will post some pictures as soon as I get to my bigdisk

here are pics of our tank, pre powder painted. The cap gets powder painted so it looks like alloy. The tank either grey or semi flat black. Makes for a simple install
The front lid is steel and was modified by Axiom Motorsports for us ![]() ![]()
