Great photos. Tell us more... I luv the masking tape...

Does anybody know?
Did they make any RHD 959s? ~ I'm guessing NO but I thought I would ask anyway.

Thanks for posting Wayne.

Wayne I think you have insomnia..almost everytime you make a post it is at a very obscure hour! Great old 959 pictures, I also have a barrage of awesome old and rare 959 pics and road test from when I lived in England and toured Europe in the '80s. I should scan and post them up.

Am I the only one that finds the 959 to be a technical marvel but believes it is one of the ugliest cars ever made?

Glad to see at least one other agrees with me. It looks like a 911 with a really bad eighties body kit.

They don't photograph well. Ever seen one? They're pretty stunning in the metal.

Wayne - great pics!

Actually, yes... and I still think it's ugly.

actually, Porsche was never one to let form get in the way of function.
- sort of like the Chris Bangle rear end on another German make - change 1mm of any dimension and you defeat the purpose.

I think because I was a teenager when they came out, and I was a child of the 80s (so to speak)... that I always will think that the 959, Countach and Testarossa will always be gorgeous.

I must have read the Road&Track article 1010032401 times. I used to look at the 0-60 time of the sport (3.3secs) and just marvel. (3.6 for the Lux)...

+1

For me it was the F40 and the 959... I built multiple scale models of both.

Note how the suspension is set to high on all of them.

That must have been the way they came out of the factory.
Maybe it was the last thing they checked/tested.

Maybe it was easier to get on the trucks without rubbing the front valence.

Two questions.

How many 959s are left?
What is the parts and whole car value in those pictures?

I'll beat Wayne to the punch..."they look much better in person". It's true...in person to me they look like a wider 993 with an integrated wing. I'm a bit biased, but I think the 993 is a great looking 911. I think the image in most people's heads of a 959 has been tainted by all those fake body kits and "359" VW kit cars.

Cool pics Wayne! Wonder which one is yours?

it has some very nice looking features on it - the low grilled areas for one

some may think it looks like a "bad body kit" b/c many bad body kits copied the 959

Gee, Wayne, I'm sorry they are so common now!
