Clutch replacement questions....

All - Appreciate your patience as I embark on about 10 projects to get my 84 Targa back on the road. I am posting new threads for the various different projects - as I don't want my individual questions to get lost in a long "unrelated" thread...

Anyway - received my new Sachs Power Clutch today and have two questions:

1) There is a tiny imperfection in the new Pressure Plate. Looks like it took a small hit in shipping and a piece of metal flaked off. I can feel the nick with my fingertip - and it sticks up slightly. Is this a candidate for an exchange - or not a big deal?

This kit was expensive - so I want to get it right!

Pic below.

2) Pics of my old pressure plate and clutch. They were obviously replaced at some point - as they are spring centers. Can you tell from the pics what kind of shape they are in?

Nick in New Pressure Plate:

The nick is not a problem, IMO.

Your old parts looked pretty used up. Good thing you decided to replace them.

I would not be concerned with the spot on the pressure plate, your clutch will probably not contact that area. I did the clutch and all related parts on my 88 Carrera 2.5 years ago, was a fun job just big$$$$
