I'm not familiar with the four position switch.

Do you have a Euro model car?

Here is the wiring for our '86. P/N 911-613-029-02

Because the Bentley did not show all of the connections, I made this jpeg when I replaced the switch.

The '87 switch. P/N 911-613-029-03

Note: There is an additional connector (#58) on the '87 switch.

Good luck,

Hi Gerry,

No Euro delivery according to the records but I think the answer lies in that the light switch was changed a few years ago. The P/N on the invoice was 911-613-029-03 compared to your 02 version. I don't yet know what this "undocumented feature" is but it seems to be OK with me. Just the fog lights one and no running lights in position "1" is what I have.

I tried to get a photo of the installed switch but I can't get a decent angle on it so I'm going to leave well enough alone.

Best regards, Roger

I'll bet that the switch is not wired correctly.

AND

The Bentley shows a three position switch:

1. Off
2. Park
3. Head.

But then, it does not show all of the connections.

But, if you're a "happy camper" so be it.

Best regards,

Gerry

I'm betting with you Gerry. The car had a history of wiring issues and if the radio wiring that I corrected is any indication of the types of repairs, I may well just go exploring one day. Thanks for the pictures which will help once I get to that stage.

Best regards,

Roger
