Use 16x6 or 16x7 Fuchs for Lindsey wheels
Hi,
In the process of sourcing some donor wheels to weld into Alloy outer barrels, like Lindsey wheels. Trying to source a set of 16x6.. which is provong difficult. I can get 16x6 and 16x7, does anyone know if this will cause an issue? There is a slight angle to the outer flat piece of the rim which will make the outer lip look a little small. Don't think this will be a big issue on a 17x9 or 17x11. It may also help using the 7" center for the front to help clear 996TT brakes. Does anyone know if the 7" have a lot more X-factor or caliper clearance than the 6" wheels. Thanks in advance for you comments. Brent |

Lindsey wont use 7s....and I actually prefer the look 7s give you with the angle. I went with TruDesign 17x8 and 17X9.5 starting with 16X7

Seems like a call to Lindsey would answer any question of what they can/can't do, and why.

From what I understand their tooling wont work with 7s....I do not know the specifics. When I was looking for wheels I did a search on the parts for sale board here and requested Fuchs with damaged rims since they get cut off anyway...I ended up getting 4 7s for under $400....I would think you can get 6s even cheaper....they dont have to match....I used TruDesign because 1) Their customer service is superb....Returned calls and emails very quickly and was very helpful in helping me get the correct backspacing for the look I was going for...2) Their price was cheaper than Lindsey...3) They would use 7s (which I like the look of the centers better)...4) He powdercoats both sides of the centers....5) His turnaround time was much better.

I had some wheels built a couple of years ago by TRE and they started with my set of six inchers. I think seven's are probably still worth enough not to cut up. I believe Lindsey told me at that time they only wanted sixes as well. By the way the wheels I had built are 17x 9 and 17 x 11 for the turbo body car they turned out awesome.

I didn't want to hassle them for the information as I will get them done here in New Zealand, just wanted to see if there was a specific reason for not using 7".
Looks like you can use them easy enough, perhaps 7" are more expensive to acquire. |

The sixes are the only ones to use for the three piece wheels using BBS halves which are bolted together.
For the welded wheels it makes more sense, to me, to use the 7s. In fact I could use a ratty 6 if anyone wants to part with one for cheap. ![]()
