Look what showed up today!!!:D http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/clap.gif

First impressions: 1.) Very lightweight construction. 2.) Build quality appears to be excellent! 3.) All "bits and pieces" arrived together to bolt-on immediately!

Kudos to Brian and Ben for the custom 3" polished tips. They look awesome and I can't wait to get everything installed. Hopefully in the next week or so...

If anyone has tips for unbolting those old exchangers, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a fresh can of PB blaster to start and plan on using a steel brush to clean up the bolt ends.

Cliyde... You may need to "hot wrench" those old barrel nuts off.

Never fun and not safe if you have an oil leak or two...

Looks beautiful. Would love to hear a sound clip if you can post it when you get it all bolted up.

You bet! Probably one of the first things I'll do - Hehe!

You will be shocked at how easily that muffler mounts up.

You will giggle like a little girl when you start it for the first time.

Get Wong to make a chip for you, it will make a huge difference.

Post the pics after install.

I've done some pre-dyno tuning [ http://forums.pelicanparts.com/5004928-post86.html ]with the stock exchangers, 1-in-1-out M&K, Gekkatec MAF, and 91 oct. SW chip. Pulled about 248CHP with AFR's near 12.5/8. In talking with Steve, optimum AFR's for a Carrera are 13.1/2 - I plan to hit the dyno again to see where things stand. I may think about upgrading to a 93 oct SW chip and re-tune if necessary!

cliyde,

Your dyno sheets seem to indicate you have reduced exhaust reversion a bunch. (Less residual pressure in the cylinder when the exhaust valve closes.)

Get the AFR's corrected (13 v 10.5 AFR) and you should pick up a good 10 peak HP or so.

----

I truly believe if someone made a system that kept the left and right side separate after the stock HE's they would out perform a bypass or SSI system.

If done right it should come close to the same HP as running a set of 993HE's. It is not so much that the primary tubes are equal length with our low overlap cams. The key is to ensure that there are never two exhaust valves open at the same time on the same exhaust manifold. This reduces reversion.
