Control Arm Mountings

I am looking for a good way of strengthening the front control arm mounting points while we have the top plate removed.

I would prefer to have an 'invisble' set of strengtheners/stiffeners and any good ideas would be welcome.

Thee is supposed to be a small bracket welded on top of your A-arm bosses. RD & St0ddard carry them - not sure if our host does.

they don't really need much further strengthening - they see relatively small loads.

Those brackets should come with the replacement pan piece, but it seems not all reproduction pieces do that. You want it, as it will connect the tops of the "nuts" back to the chassis.

Were this mine, I'd figure out a way to extend the nuts up so they could also be welded to the top sheet metal when you get around to welding that part in.

But I had the experience of having one of these rip out of the pan.

On the other hand, that was on a coilover car with spherical bushings and a "hat" on the end of the A arm so that some of the braking force is taken up by that front mount. As about all of it is with the 935 style lower A arms. So maybe that's overkill on a street car.

But get the brackets.
