Dowel Pin on Flywheel at TDC location

Does the dowel pin on the flywheel need to be right under the reference sensor when the engine is at TDC. I have my pulley mark at TDC and my Ignition Rotors are at the TDC mark. However the dowel pin on the flywheel sensor is almost at the top and not aligned with the Reference Sensor. Is there some specification where this dowel pin needs to be? It seems closer to the other TDC sensor that is used for diagnostic purposes. I assume the flywheel can only be mounted in one and only one position so I guess it just lines up how it was designed? So one need not to worry about this I guess.

No need to worry, the flywheel is indexed with a pin so there is only one way to remount it. I'm not sure about the location of the crank position sensor pin, whether it is TDC or some number of degrees before, but as long as the computer knows it's all good!

If your car won't start when you put it back together let us know.

Thank you for the reply. That's what I thought. I had to take the engine out of the car again because of a goof up

Anyways here is the entire story:
911 3.2 to 3.4 conversion; engine not running

I was looking at every issue that could be wrong and turned out to be wrong cam timing. I posted this subject separate as I thought it could be a good contribution for others since its a fairly generic topic on its own. But yes the indexing only allows for one way to do it. One less thing to goof
