good jack stands
Would it be safe to jack up both front and rear with good Esco jack stands? My floor has 1/4" slope per foot. I've been doing the front and rear separately with cheesy Craftsman Chinese made jack stands. They have a narrow base and I would never try to put the car on all 4 stands with them. Been thinking of buying the Esco stands from Pelican and another floor jack. It would make maintenance easier.
Btw, I want to get a 4 post lift next spring and would like to install it without tearing up and repairing concrete. Could the lift be leveled with shims or plates. Has anyone had this problem? I'm sure someone has installed on a sloped surface. |

I think they'd be fine. I have some and the Esco stands are very stable and sturdy. As long as you put them in correct spots on the car. The round feet and three leg stability I think is key, as is good construction and welds and the secure cotter pin locked height adjustment pins. I believe they are each rated for 3 tons.

I really like Esco for the front of the car, then 6 ton traditional style jack stands in the rear.

I, too, have the Esco stands and find them to be the best, especially for the front. My ‘87 has jack points that are flat, so the flat pad of the Esco work great there. In the rear, you can use more conventional stands with the notch, which can go under the torsion bar covers.
I also have a 4 post lift. It has a leveling feature which allows for the car to be level if the surface is not. In my case my garage floor is pretty level, but still off a bit. By adjusting the lift, the platform where the car sits is dead nuts level, and I do corner balancing from it. Not sure how much tollerance there is to achieve a level platform from a sloping surface, but I imagine it is a fair amount. You can check with which ever brands you evaluate.

These were my favorite until I got my scissor lift. Very stable and easy to use

the larger ones from HF work fine and don't break the bank. 6 ton I think.

I shim my driver's front stand with scraps of .125 6061 for the floor slope and use the HF 6 tons in the rear. Very stable but I wish I had a lift.

I’m having a guy Who installs for Bend pack look at my garage next week I talked to Bend Pack and told me he’s a fabricator also so maybe he’ll have a solution for the garage floor slope and be able to make some custom ramps I think I’m gonna have them install.

I’ve been using these Rennstands for about 6 months and I really like them. Also slide regular jack stands underneath where I’m working just in case.

I see several references to 6 ton stands. Am I naive to think that 4 x 3 ton are sufficient for our cars?
