I would also recommend troy sport in Orlando. Sid Collins knows his stuff and my 69 has run great since Sid did a full rebuild last year. He personally owns a 74 (unless he recently sold it) so I'm sure he knows his way around a 2.7.

sorry, yes just a stock rebuild. nothing fancy just a compete teardown and rebuild.

on an Al cased motor, I'd tell you to just do it yourself

BUT you have a case made of Mg, which Bruce Anderson aptly described as flowing like congealed butter.

You should get the case checked out very carefully be a machinist who does lots of such cases. It may well need to be line bored (aka, align-bored). Find someone who works with such a machinist.

also avoid this guy:

Best shop in Central Florida is Karl at GERMAN CAR SERVICE in Longwood, FL. Karl Jr who is around 50 and has worked on 911 over 30 years. Ph 407-830-6519. Karl has been my wrench since 1983 and dropped a Porsche off yesterday for some work.

Some of you guys will remember it was Karl's father that had his Porsche/ BMW repair shop eaten by a Florida Sink Hole in Winter Park in 1981. Karl and his son Karl reopened in his current location in Longwood.

Here is a piece of an article:
By the next day, the sinkhole had swallowed five Porsches and half of the city's Olympic-sized swimming pool. It ate away part of Denning Drive and threatened Fairbanks Avenue.

The Winter Park sinkhole grabbed international attention largely because of its size and its urban location. When it stopped growing, it measured 350 feet wide, 75 feet deep and caused $4 million in damage.

That just looks like a photoshop photo. I will assume it is real since the event happened. Just rather unreal.

Jim dont know where in florida you are but I use Orbit Racing located in Palm Beach Fl. Speak to Rodger (owner) you will be glad you did, they do only Porsche and nothing but Porsche.

Plenty of top Porsche shops in Florida, depends on where you are.

KMW Motorsports in Boca Raton is a great shop with a great reputation both with street cars and especially track cars, he is also a porsche only shop.

Again, depends are where you are located.

I have also a motor rebuilt by Sid Collins at Troysport. Happy with the results. I would suggest that you visit him every week to check on progress though. Mine took a long time to finish.
