recommended engine rebuilder ???

i have done a little research for engine rebuilders for my '74 911 2.7 and it seems like there are more people not recommended than recommended. Does anyone have positive recommendations for someone you have had positive results from especially when it comes to the 2.7.

thanks

jim

Where you located?

What he said. We can recommend more builders than we've got fingers and toes. If we know where you are, we might be able to send you to someone in your own backyard.

in florida. i will ship it if i have. i saw the ads for "Motor Meister" then started reading about them so now i'm hoping for the Pelican pros to chime in with their good experiences.

I would recommend Eurasian Auto here in Birmingham Alabama in a heartbeat....let me know if you need their number.
This is a first class outfit, although not sure if they do by 'mail'. I am having oil change done there real soon so I can ask if you'd like.

Also what are you looking for: just a stock rebuild or something "special"? More info is needed to answer the question appropriately.

jkirby4 07-08-2010 04:04 PM

sorry, yes just a stock rebuild. nothing fancy just a compete teardown and rebuild.

I can highly recommend Mike Bruns at JB Racing inTaveres, Florida. 352-343-8900. He can do anything you want from "mild" to "wild". Extremely honest and does exceptional work. He's rebuild and massaged my friends 2.7 up to a 2.8 ltr., dynoed, and produced a fantastic motor.
I's sure he'd love to talk to you and see what you have in mind, and what your budget is.

Mike Bruns is excellent. If you are in Tampa Bay - Joe Vetter at Germantech does good work

Steve@Rennsport 07-08-2010 07:40 PM

Mike Bruns, hands down.

No offense to the guys who suggested Mike first, but if Steve agrees from clear across the country, then Mike IS da man!

I have a 1980 sc DE car. I live in corpus christi area. My car is running well but I have tracked it 3 times already in 4 months and plan to continue. PO's also tracked it alot. Still with oem pistons, bearings, rings all lower end stuff. No smoke or leaks but have noticed some oil consumption. About 1 quart every 2 k miles. Any reccomendations? Car has 60,000 miles.

cgarr 04-18-2011 04:12 PM

Why does it need to be rebuilt?

Flat6pac 04-18-2011 04:32 PM

1 quart in 500 to 700 is considered factory.

If you're in Florida, give Omega Motorsports in Jacksonville a call. The owner is named Steve (last name is twenty-something letters.....Greek). A great guy, no BS, can give you exactly what you want...stock to wild, with very fair pricing. He built my hotrod 3.2 and I've been extremely satisfied. He offered to turbo me, but that was out of the price range at the time.

I've seen everything in his shop from stock longhoods to vintage F1 Ferrari's. You'll be happy if you give him your business.
