Inside door handle broken today

Just went to open the door, driver's side, and something broke inside the door when I pulled the handle. Looks as if there's still some mechanism attached to the inner side of the door handle so something came apart inside.

I have not take off the top cap from the door panel yet and dunno what I could see if I did. Thought I'd run it past you guys first to see how to proceed. Likely a pin that attaches to a rod or some such...

Thanks in advance...

Youre right, something broke.
Regardless of what it is you're gonna have to take the inside door panel off to first, find out what broke second, to fix it.
It's not a big deal. I always find it helpful to have a digital camera or my phone with me to take pics so I put things back where they came from.

Door

Here's what it'll look like, or similar, when you get in there. This is a passenger door so reverse your thinking.

Good luck, I hope it isn't serious.

It is probably those plastic pieces that hold that little rod that goes into the door handle, not a big deal. I don't think there is any more plastic in the mecanism.
