competition tire source and size

Sorry, more tire questions but I didn't find anything on a search.

I just picked up some 8x16 fuchs for track use only.(7" fronts to come later)
I looked on tire rack for competition tires but the selection seems to be thin for 16" tires. Anyone have a source for more options on track/competition tires?
Also, has anyone put 225/50 (front) and 245/45 (rear) tires on a carrera? My car is lowered and has rolled front lips. Would a 225/245 set up be an advantage at the track or is the 205/225 set up just as good?

Thanks,

I run 225/50/16 on front and 245/45/16 on rear of my 930. The PO had lowered the car and it handled like s*** so I put it back to european stock( it is an 83 model) when lowered the left front rubbed on the windsheild washer bottle in the front fender well, but dosn't now. I think I will install 245/50/16 on rear next set to help fill the well up and to get speedo to read closer to actual speed.I get my street tires from e-tire online. They have a pretty good selection and free shipping.

On a Carrera with 7's and 8's x 16" Fuchs you should run 225F and 245R. Tirerack usually stocks Kumhos and Hoosiers in these sizes which are your best choices for competition DOT tires for your car.

I've been happy with Toyo Proxes RA-1s in 205 and 245 on my 7s and 8s. Tirerack doesn't carry them, but I've gotten them through Treadepot.com. I've been told they last a little longer than the Kumhos or the Hoosiers. But keep in mind, a set is good for maybe three or four track weekends. It gets expensive.
