Question for electrical gurus
Gentlemen....to make a long story shorter, while installing a LED light indicator for my a/c compressor last week, I heard groans/moans coming from the engine compartment blower motor. Luckily for me, when the blower motor finally seized up totally, I was there to immediately shut off the ignition switch (but only after the wiring started smoking for a brief time...probably less than 5 seconds). My question is this....there is a 25 amp fuse in the engine compartment fuse box for this motor and I'm wondering why that fuse did not blow. Did I just shut if off too quick or is a 25 amp fuse too much for this particular circuit??? Can anyone tell me what the amperage draw SHOULD be on a factory engine compartment blower motor?? I tore down my motor and found a wallowed out bearing and case end on the blower cage side of the motor (seems to be a common problem)..I drilled out a 5/8 inch hole in the case end, used a 5/16 inch i.d. brass sleeve/bushing and the motor is back up and running again. You guessed it....now I'm a little concerned to run this motor again for fear that IF it locks up again, I may not be so quick to turn it off the next time and have an engine and/or wiring fire. Perhaps I should wire another (smaller) fuse in line to avoid this possibility, in the same manner that the front a/c condensor fan is wired. Any thoughts??

These motors are prone to catch fire and/or seize up without the fuze blowing. Time to staart thinking of backdating the heater. 25A is the correct fuze.
