Strange rubbing noise / vibration at speed
All--
I have a strange rubbing noise and slight vibration in the steering wheel between 60-70 miles per hour. Most times it goes away when I ease off the gas and resumes when I go back on the throttle. I checked to be sure its independent of engine RPM. Its otherwise handling and driving great--no noise / vibration below or above that speed range. I don't see anything rubbing, checked the lug nuts, and confirmed good tire pressure. I haven't had an alignment in a while (>20,000 miles or ~3 years) and the tires only have ~17,000 miles on them. I'm due for an oil change and plan to have it looked at while its with the shop, but want to get a sense of what I might be dealing with. thanks, David |
Balancing OK on the tires?

wheel bearings lubed and adjusted properly?

I had the front bearings replaced less than 5000 miles ago. Could that be it?

I dunno, just a guess. While it's parked, grab a tire at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions and work the wheel back and forth to test for play. Any play in the wheel might be a sign.

+1 on the balancing.
