nooooo I dented my Porsche :(...my fault

In nearly 7 years of driving, I'm only 22, this is the second time I have hit something.

I was backing my 911 in to the driveway and missed-judged a rock (was in a rush), and I backed up over it. I put a small 1/4inch deep 3 inch long dent in the lower body part under the passenger door towards the back.

I'm so disappointed in myself. Being a young person with a Porsche creates horrible stereotypes of being unable to manage such a car. Yet this is the easiest to drive car I own.

You can't really see the dent unless I look for it. I don't even know if I should get it fixed. Seems like the panel can be accessed from the backside and the whole section can be painted I guess, not that big.

Anybody done something similar? I lost sleep over this.

stupid.

Not having the passenger side mirror is starting t get old fast. I really appreciate the mirror on my Saabs and I have never scuffed a wheel because I always use them.

Sounds like a long hood, but could be a short hood mid year that only had driver's outside mirrors w/o the upgrade option. If a short hood, take the rocker panel off and fix it, buy a rattle can to match your paint from paintscratch.com and it's a done deal.

Don't be too hard on yourself, but learn from the experience...

Google "paintless dent repair". I'm told you'd be surprised what those guys can do. If they can reach the back of the panel, should be easy for them.

I'm sorry , but you are going to have to return your 911 to its previous owner

My wife backed our BMW 330i into a brick planter.

I once backed my Jeep Cherokee through my garage door. In my defense, I was in a hurry and the garage door windows were the exact same height as the back window of the Cherokee. I thought the door was open!

if its a 75-89 it might just be the rocker panel that can be sourced and replaced easy like.

I crashed more cars before the age of 22 that most people have owned in their lives. Do NOT worry about it.

As has been stated, your avatar suggests the car is an impact bumper model between 74 and 89. The rockers on these cars come off with a few screw. After that they can be fixed professionally for very little money, or you can DIY it (do it yourself it?) for peanuts and it will be almost as good.

My wife took my 2002 over a curb not so many weeks ago. That hurt because unlike your car the rocker is a thick steel part of the body itself. I found a custom car repair guy in Richmond who did a metal repair followed with a teaspoon of bondo. $700 all in but as I said, my repair was *way* more intense than yours. Lemme know if you want the reference. He's very easy to deal with.

There must be a TON of body shops in B.C. Never have I witnessed a worse bunch of unsafe drivers as I have that come out of Canada. Not putting myself on a pedestal, (I have hit a tree in my own driveway!) but wow. I respond to most Whatcom county vehicle accidents along the interstate, several every day. Always (60-70%) there is a white and blue B.C. plated vehicle involved. I do not want to know who's at fault, I just make sure no one's hurt and treat the injured.
A fellow firefighter is also a State Police Patrol officer, he ONLY stops Canadian drivers doing triple digits on there way to Seattle, his record is 39 tickets in one shift. What does this all mean? Slow down, look before you back, keep your head into driving, respect your fellow drivers, learn how to merge, no texting/phoning and driving (a primary offense now in Washington), don't get into accidents-be proactive. Good luck! but go fast on the track.

Similar experience just two weeks ago. My 930 has real poly 964 bumpers etc on it. I just wrecked my MB (automatic) and bought an Audi A4 (manual, and dont ask me why I bought a P.O.S) I got out of the Audi, left it in neutral, no ebrake. I rolled into the back bumper of my nice and shiny Porsche. Now the paint it cracking off......

You sayin we don't know how to drive or that we are unlucky when we drive in WA??

The only accident I have ever been involved in was getting rear ended on the I5, we were stopped in traffic, got hit by a young WA resident travelling at 70mph, you can guess how that turned out.....

Cheers

What kind of stupid commentary is this? I have experienced more lunatic drivers in the US than I care to mention. Sorry James, but there are morons on both sides of the border, and this unfortunate young lad had a mishap that we are all capable of. One Saturday morning I backed into my girlfriends brand new Honda Civic in my Hummer........she parked tight to my bumper, the spare tire on my rig destroyed her hood.........guess I'm a moron too.

Yes you are! A lifetime of small accidents constitutes a poor driver. If you think that a few hits hear and there are OK then you sir need to take a taxi. EVERYONE (on both sides of the border) need to take driving serious. Bad driving habits are the hardest thing to fix. Start off right, lets say no preventable accidents. none, ever. Don't accept that a few here and there are ok. At my department, you get one reportable auto accident in your lifetime. On the second one, your let go. Oh and two speeding tickets every four years. Take a look how many North Americans die every year from traffic accidents, it's out of control, be safe.

Ok, that's enough ranting.....

I agree, but you came down on this guy for backing into a fixture in his driveway. Then you attacked Canadians for being unsafe drivers.......your overzealous, pompous attitude is a little scary. I, in no way, condone agressive driving, I personally, save that for the track, but i think your being a little hard on this guy. I can appreciate you see a lot of craziness on your highways and it exists everywhere, not just in WA by Canadians. And one accident does not constitute "a lifetime of small accidents"...........I'm glad you are not on my Police force because you sound like you could cause me a lot of problems with that attitude.

That's enough for me too........I've had my say.......over and out.
