Re-Introduction and Problems after PDX - long.

I've been lurking for a while and have posted a few times under the name NCFJ40 (mostly buying parts in the classified section). I live in the foothills of the mountains in western NC. I've always wanted a 911 but put off my dreams to take care of my family (wife and four kids) . I got into FJ40's but my son turned his nose up at them and wanted to do sports cars. So the wife slapped me upside the head and said go for it. I've decided to sell all my Toyota FJ40 stuff and concentrate on the 911. So I'm changing over to the new name of MEINTARGA which is also my license plate.

My son and I drove my car in our first PDX this weekend. We have been having very few problems with the car in the 9 months I've owned it and we had a blast. This was the most fun I've had in a car yet. During the course of the weekend a few problems reared their ugly head. I haven't started troubleshooting in depth yet but thought I see if you guys had some ideas where to start.

Problem #1 Brake warning light is lit at all times after the first 20 minute session. Checked the brakes, fluid and hand brake. All seem to be fine. Will check out the switches on the master cylinder tonight.

Problem #2 Car would not turn over after stopping. Happened once when we stopped for gas on the 4+ hour drive to the track. Once at the track. Twice on the way home. You can hear the fuel pump start but the engine will not turn over. No click or anything. Head lights do not dim at all. Push starts very easily and then will restart with the key after that, until it decides to do it again.

Problem #3 MASSIVE oil leak when turning right. I drove Saturday and the corner workers keep saying I was smoking on down shifting. I topped off the oil to midway between MIN/MAX with the oil hot and car running on Saturday night. My son drove Sunday and I worked a corner. Well It isn't smoking through the exhaust, its dripping on the drivers side heat exchanger and burning off. With the oil level where it should be it leaks alot when turning right. The track we were on had long sweeping turns and it RAN out the drivers side during the entire right hand turn. You could see the liquid oil running out. We removed a few quarts so that it was just barley showing up on the dipstick like the day before and it was reduced to just enough running out that it smoked all the way through the corner but. I checked the lower valve cover nuts for tightness and looked for obvious signs of leakage but everything is wet with oil on that side of the engine.

After the track sessions we topped off the oil and drove it home without using a drop.

Any suggestions on any of my three problems will be greatly appreciated.

Jay

The brake light might be from the parking brake needing adjustment.
Many threads on oil leaks, a search will turn up quite a few items to check. You might consider adjusting the valves and looking to see if a rocker shaft is loose, crankcase breather gasket, oil restrictor in the breather tube from oil tank to air box, thermostat o ring, etc.
Starter might need rebuild or replacement. Engine heat may be affecting it if the problem is only after it has been run for a while. Does it start fine when engine is cold? You could try checking the yellow wire on the starter with a meter. Do you have 12 volts from the yellow to ground when the key is in the start position? If not it may be an ignition switch problem.
