Happy with Seine System Shifter

I know there are probably a bunch of these posts already, but what the hell...

I really like the Seine System gated shifter. Before I installed it, I was a little skeptical if I was going to like it or not. But it had a lot of positive reviews.

The car has totally been transformed. The shifting is much more precise now. It kind of reminds me of a G50. (I've only driven a one once...so what do I know.)

Anyway...I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about it.

I wonder how the Seine shifter compares with Wevo and Rennshift? Are the other more expensive solution that much better?

curious...

Seine is an aid. Not a bandaid, just a good aid. The others replace the entire unit with their own design. Not the same thing.

When I first saw that little bag of parts I thought something had to be missing.

Read the instructions and thought - I've been ripped off.

I installed it and WOW, the best thing since sliced bread.

It's good stuff, and well worth the money.

Std shift on mine, works perfectly. Probably one of the best items I added to my 911 over the years.

When I put my car back together it will have the factory short shifter with an extension (thank you Vince!) on the Seine gate system. I know it sounds like a contradiction to have a short shifter with an extension...

The Weltmeister People Need no Explanation Because their Lever effort is Higher because of the Longer part Below the Pin and Shorter Above the Pin! The extension brings them "ALMOST" to the Factory Short Shift.

On the Factory Short SHift it gives you the reach from the Steering wheel you always wanted BUT not any longer than Stock Throws. Put in the Seine and you would think you were shifting a BMW or some other car. As I stated, the Best $150 (I Feel) anyone can spend on their Porsche.

This is next on my list. Ordering the kit in the next few weeks. One question. How did you get the tab welded on? Do you have to take the whole car in or just the parts to a shop?

Because you don't want you fragile electronics to fry during the (arc) welding operations you may want to just take the shifter to the shop. The tab will be held in place with the clamp provided with the Seine kit so you should be OK.

Your taking the shifter out to install the kit anyway, welding it is just few more seconds on the bench.

Except that you want to install the shifter with the Seine kit installed and make the adjustments you need, then clamp the tab where you feel it belongs. This may take a litlle bit of driving. When satisfied you can remove the shifter and take it to a shop to have the tab welded.

I did it all on the bench, the tab either fits over the ears or it doesn't. The shifter in or out of the car sits in the same place on mine. The new tab is directly opposite the original tab on my sc.

Please Understand what he is saying! You do NOT Know How high up or down on the Shaft and exactly what angle to engage the Tangs on the Plate! So some time with the Rubber Boot off is needed and small adjustments! Remember, you are changing 40 plus years of Technology and this cannot be done in Seconds!

shifter

I was one of the test 901 trannys Sherwood used for the development of this kit. When we installed this unit, it worked flawlessly.

The car was a 1970 911S. This ( band or aid ) works great !

Yes. Curtis has been a valued test subject. I made sure to keep a bit of distance during his maiden voyage with our prototype installed. In addition, the value of a 911S was quite a bit less a few years ago.

Thanks for kind remarks,
Sherwood
