O/2 Sensor Placement

Ok.... I bought a after market O/2 - wide band system to read my air fuel ratio...

Now that I have to weld an O/2 bung... where should I have one welded up at?
Can it be say...about 6-8 inches from where the muffler connects to the headers or???

Any one's figured this out:)

Thank YOUSmileWavy

The factory puts it on the cat converter. If you have a cat bypass put it there.

ya...figure that was the case.. let me add a bit more.
* 914-6
* current placement is right after the collector - about 6-7 inches before my Monty muffler
* unit is a PLX
* unit register find until I put it under 'load' in 2nd to measure the 0/2 ratio..the system goes into an error mode- just after I see 13 to one.
* I've been advised that it might be 'back pressure ' under load that cause the system to error.

That's the main reason for coming here for 'advice":(

Absent an automatic control loop of what good is an oxygen sensor...? And even the wide band ones go out of range with any level of A/F mixture above idle or normal cruise....

That's the purpose of the MAF/IAT, to provide sensing, control, of the A/F mixture when the osygen sensor is out of range.
