Oil cooler line sealing ?

Oil cooler and lines finally here!! WOOHOO.

I'm going to use Haycait911's method to remove a few slight indentations before installing.

Question. Is there any method of added sealing at the joints to ensure no leaks??

just make sure the sealing surfaces are clean and nick-free and you should be good-to-go. I used some sandpaper in the palm of my hand to clean up the cooler line end. it would be impossible to make sure any excess sealant didn't get into the oil flow.

Thanks Haycait,

I was thinking of using some valve-grind compound on each respective joint to smooth them up together. Looks like I have a fun-filled day ahead of me. . . with no sleep!!

I'll update with pics tomorrow eve.

I used anti-seize on the fittings.

Wow!

Thanks for reminding me to add that to my list!! I would have gotten back home and been PO'ed!

Funny, just read an article in one of my periodicals about the value of making lists. Dad used to preach that too. Maybe he wasn't so stupid after all.

Sorry. . . no pics, wifey had camera.

Well, I'm real happy with the results of Haycaits 'dent removal' method. Be aware though that you probably need a bit more heat than a propane only torch can provide. I was able to get decent results with one, but as a test I tried heating a old section of brass pipe to glowing and couldn't.

Anyway, everything went together well, no leaks, flows oil through lines at 180F as it should. Big test will be the evening rides today and tomorrow. We should see temps of app. 90 - 95 in Denver and then I'll know more. I also went with Brad Penn 20-50. My pressures are much better now too. I think my pressure issue was a combo of poor oil and temps. I'm happy again!

Thanks all!!
