86 Coupe Electric Windows
Hi Guys,
Weird thing happens when I start the car, the passenger window switch does not operate the window, until, I move the window with the switch for it on the drivers side, then all controls work from the passenger side and drivers side. It is almost as if it is locked out until I move it from my side. Happens 8 out of ten times. Any thoughts |

I suspect it's the relay failing.

The Bentley manual sucks for this fix unless you are needing to take out the power window motor. I doubt that is the problem. Having just gone thru a similar situation I would start with pulling out the switches and cleaning the contacts. Be careful when you take the switches apart as there are small plastic dowels and little ball bearings under the rockers. And make sure you take a picture of the back of the switch before you pull the wires off. After you do one you will see how easy it is to do the rest. First switch took me about 15 minutes start to finish. The others took about 10 minutes each. Here is a good "how to" thread and is the one I used. Window Switch Repair All the parts in my switches were in good condition, just the brass rockers were a bit corroded. 1000 wet/dry sandpaper cleaned them up.
