Help! No oil during 30 second engine spin
Here's my problem: Oil (and pressure) does not come up during 30 second engine spin
I've checked out the following: 1. Pump Seals - They were installed. Source: Assembly photo 2. Intake line Air Lock – I thought this might be a cause so I repositioned the line and heard bubbles and flow. 3. Pressure Relief Valve – I backed off on retainer to reduce the spring load My pass/fail check is to look for oil at the passenger cam tensioner line (near sender) which I have cracked open. So far, no oil is coming out. Need help, Boyz n Gurlz. What have I missed? ![]()

What engine is this?
Sometimes the oil scavenge pump tube can be touching the sump plate and not be able to suck up the oil, but I think that would be a different problem.

Reducing spring load on the relief valve would have the opposite effect of what you want.
Like Flieger asked, which engine? Is it your '71 listed in your signature? Was the oil bypass done. If so does it have the correct spring and plunger installed, and is the plunger installed correctly?

It's All Clear
![]() I removed the sender and got ample flow. Oddly the pressure at crank speed (no plugs) wasn't enough to leak from the cracked line mentioned in my first mail. Thanks for the replies. The engine is a 1981 3.0.
