71' 911 Needs the NLA CVs? What to do?
Guys,
My 71' needs a CV joint (in two pieces after the last engine drop) and I found those are NLAs. I know I could just spend $500 on new axles but it seems silly to me that I don't have a nice $50 CV option. At any rate it got me thinking that I might want to upgrade to 930 CVs but I cant quite remember what I need for that. If I recall there were some stub axles that would do this on a 901 box? I am looking for advise and the secret recipe if there is one! Thanks!

joeblow,
Looking at PET, it appears that the '70 complete axle part number 911.332.033.08 has been superceded to 911.332.033.09. PET also shows the CV joint alone to be part number 911.332.032.02. PET then indicates that this CV joint part number is used up to the '83 SC, but when you do a reverse search, it says it is used between '74 and '83 but only 2 of them and not 4. So, you may want to look into the '83 part number of 923.332.032.00 to see if it will fit the axle and flanges. ![]() ![]() I believe that to update to the 930 CV joints, it would require at least 915 gearbox. The 930 output flanges will not fit the 901 box differential pinion spider gears. Anyone else? Correct me if I'm wrong. |

joeblow,
Try these guys; Parts Heaven - Parts Heaven Welcome 23694 Bernhardt Street, Hayward - (510) 782-0354 They have a lot of early 911 used parts, and are very knowledgeable about applications, in my experience. As good as the Pelican guys are on new parts! ![]()
